Kamest

From Tricilve, our journey went by barge up river to Kamest. Baldyr, my companion, was privileged enough to have been invited to Hiltre by Duke Klamender Gomba himself. The journey was to begin in Kamest. This city is a flourishing trading port connecting the Malossi Lake to the capital. Great amounts of sylvoleum pass through here on the way to the coast. Duke Gomba told us much about his oil-tree forests in Hiltre, from which he harvests the resource in great amounts. The sap from the tree is treated with rock salt to produce this valuable and highly flammable substance.

The Duke took us aboard his personal zepelond. This remarkable contraption consists of a bag of algeasilk, inflated by hot smoke from a sylvoleum burning device. The balloon in question lifts a gondola large enough to contain a cabin with some creature comfort. The whole assembly is propelled by six well trained albadors, these giants of the sky. The birds have been trained to fly in a synchronized fashion to make the journey smoother. After my initial fears of the altitude had been overcome, the journey proved most enjoyable.
