Krindenmaar

Baldyr and me arrived to the port city of Krindenmaar after sundown, and were lucky enough to see a wonderfully beautiful lightquake over Krindenland. Nobody knows what causes them, nor the shapeshifting mountains or other phenomena of that strange land. One theory states that the area was very beautiful once, but then a tremendous earthquake occurred, turning the lands upside down so quickly that daylight was trapped deep beneath the surface and compressed. The lightquakes of today is the daylight escaping from the high pressure containment.

That does not explain the shapeshifting landscape, though. Rivers change their course, mountains rise and fall, all in a matter of months. An expedition of scholars from Lasemos ventured to explore this years ago. Five weeks after its departure, one lone surviving porter returned. One leg had become shorter than the other, the right hand fingers were fused together, the chest shaped like an hour glass and the knees bendable in all directions. His face had a deep cleft in the middle, and growths looking much like eyes had formed on the cheekbones, leading people to believe that the man was growing two heads. He never spoke a word of what had happened.

This land was also the place where the Rejoicers first emerged, but I will not speak more of that.

One interesting theory states that Krindenland is a meeting point where Ereb Altor is touching on a different reality, and that the two worlds are fighting for supremacy here. If so, it should be possible to gain entry to the other world through this land, but neither me nor Baldyr felt anxious to explore that possibility, and instead, we left for Palamux.
